At first glance the five of cups looks like it represents disappointment and not getting what you want. But this card is more so about perspective if you take a good look at what's actually happening. In this scene, you can see that while there are some undesirable or disappointing things clearly happening, there are also some positive things that are just out of view. I had someone jokingly ask me the other day if I was trying to be cool. And it got me started thinking about the concept. Being cool was always something I wanted as a small girl. I thought it was the end all be all to everything. Especially for someone who has spent so much of her life feeling like she doesn't belong anywhere. I used to think becoming cool would fix that. But I'm the sort of person who can never quite pull that off even when I'm trying. It just looks wrong. So over the years I had to learn to embrace my un-coolness in all its glory. I like things that don't go together. I'm into rodeos, plant medicine, football, books, magick, ice hockey, writing, energy healing, history & travel. I try to eat healthy but I love cake! I drink tea out of old teacups and saucers while I watch Lost Girl. I invented Kung Fu Fridays so I have an excuse to eat Chinese food and watch old school Kung Fu movies. Every room in my house has a completely different "theme". There's always country music playing in my car and I have a favorite pump at each gas station. My style doesn't look like anyone else's because I wake up every day and I dress how I feel. I'm a human hodgepodge. But if I think about it... these days I do feel cool. Not because I look like everyone else's version of that. It's mostly because I'm just being myself. And that in itself has a good energy flow to it. I'm not pressing against something that doesn't work or that doesn't need to be there. I'm just flowing with my quirks and letting myself have fun. I'm comfortable. And honestly I think that's the best form of cool you can ever be. Believing in yourself is essential. There are a lot of people in your life that will tell you that you can't do something based on the limitations they have with this world. Unfortunately they don't have the foresight to see what you see, or feel what you feel. I think we can all agree that during the times in our life when we wanted something, and could actually see it happening in our energetic field, we knew without a doubt that it was coming. But what happens when you know what you want and you're not sure? Or when other people are pounding you with the idea that you're wrong? The hard reality is that at this point, there's a good chance we will believe them and give up. I was reminded recently by a friend that sometimes you're the only one that can see your own vison. And that even if it's fuzzy, there's still a chance for you to mold the energy and create. Even in a world where it seems like everyone is against you, you should always have one good friend who cheers you on and helps you see the possible in the impossible. If you don't, I highly recommend getting some new friends. It's not always easy, but sometimes you just have to have your own back. DIRECTIONS
1) Measure out 1 tablespoon of tea to one cup of water. 2) Pour the water in a pot and heat until it steams, not boils! (Boiling water will kill the medicinal properties of the herbs.) Throw all of the herbs in the pot. 3) Turn off the heat, cover and let seep for 10 minutes. 4) Strain, pour into a fun teacup and enjoy! •

At first glance the 8 of Swords gives the impression that it's all about the energy of restrictions. But when you look closer into the meaning of the card you can see it is so much more than this. Sometimes we may feel stuck or bound to a certain set of circumstances. But it is only because we are blind to the possibilities that are outside the realm of our perception. Should the woman in this card remove her blindfold, she would quickly see that moving slightly to the left or the right would free her from her situation. The sharp swords around her a powerful enough to release her from the ties that bind as well as the fate she has resigned herself to. If she was able to take a look behind her she would also see there is a large castle, filled with occupants that could assist with her current state of affairs. Help is so close yet she stands there and does nothing. This card is a reminder that we are all in control of our own fate. We just have to keep moving forward. There's just something special about black crystals! I'm a big fan of black tourmaline myself. I just love how powerful it is! I first learned about it when I started reading tarot cards and I was having some issues with other people's energy. Sometimes it would stick to me, sometimes it would follow me and sometimes I would be dealing with psychic attacks from others on a conscious or subconscious level. So far this stone is the one that has been the strongest and most effective for me when dealing with these sort of situations. Calling the Corners is something I incorporate into my practice when I'm doing rituals or spellwork. If you're not familiar with this process, it's essentially calling in each element from each of their respective directions. 🌬️ East - Air
🔥 South - Fire
🌊 West - Water
🌱 North - Earth This Quarter Call sets up a protective space or circle in which you can safely work. You may also call in Spirit, or in my case I have two additional Angels that I always work with. But the idea is to keep any and all negative energy out, and let only love and light in. For larger workings I like to use candles for each element. I light them one by one as I call the elements in. And when I release them, I extinguish them in the reverse order. Next time you need a safe space to work, set up a protective circle and ask the elements to please join you while you work.

I've always loved horses since I was a little girl

I've always loved horses since I was a little girl. I don't know if it's from growing up in the southwest, but I see them as such beautiful, magickal and powerful creatures. The horse in this picture is named Polu. It's Hawaiian for blue. Apparently it's very unusual for these type of horses to have blue eyes so he was named for their striking color. I was lucky enough to have taken a ride with him through the countryside on the Big Island several years ago. Hawaii is such a magickal place for people in the Spiritual community. The island is literally alive with energy and power. But it also demands respect and consideration in return. You must always ask before you take, and tread lightly over any sacred grounds. I've always been completely myself. Even as a young child when things like that weren't as acceptable or embraced as they are today. I never minded being the weird kid. It's just who I was and I didn't really understand how to be anything else. As an adult I think that's a big reason why people gravitate towards me. When you see someone at ease with who they are, it makes you feel at ease too. 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
I see people sometimes who are trying way too hard to be different or cool or weird when they actually aren't. Because sometimes that seems a lot better than who you actually are. What many people fail to understand is that all of us have unique things to offer. You just have to find the courage to embrace who you are and be the best version of that. And you gotta stop being who you 'wish' you were. Because people can tell! They can feel the lack of authenticity in your vibes. And once you focus on the unique things about you, then you can live in the fullness of those spaces. 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Not everyone is going to be cool. Not everyone is going to be intellectual. Not everyone is going to be musical or artistic. We won't be a lot of things. And that's ok. All you need to be is YOURSELF. That's what other people respond to. 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
A good friend of mine was asked by another friend she had introduced me to - if her first impression of me was who I actually was. Apparently she really liked me but was trying to determine if that was how I was all the time. In her experience, first impressions were not always an accurate assessment. And my friend responded with one of the best things I've ever heard anyone say about me. She's said "With Nikki - what you see is what you get." To this day it's the nicest compliment I've ever received. Never underestimate the power of embracing yourself! You are awesome just as you are.
